Shopping Kenyan Style

Hi Friends
No Giant Eagle or any other grocery chain near me, so I do what locals do, buy things at the shop on the street. The fruits and vegetables are amazingly delicious.

Shoes made Kenyan Style

Jambo, no doubt things are working different here in Kenya. I needed a new pair of shoes and went to my friend Dennis who handmade them for me. He charges a fair price and he is very creative.

Women's Fellowship

When women come together for fellowship they always have a good time of studying, laughing, eating delicious cake, talking and learning about the Word of God.

Girls Go Beyond

Today we visited the girls in the High School. Our topic was setting "smart" goals for ourselves. We had lively discussions about it and some very important issues were brought up. At the end of out time we could give out the hygiene products. The girls expressed how grateful they are for it and what a difference it makes in their lives. We all are truly blessed.

Fun, some of the girls even remembered my name from last year

School Visit

Today Tina and I went to visit the New Life Academy again. Its the first time since I am back in Kenya. Out team is growing bigger, little Neema has joined us and we are so grateful to have her.

It was a joy to see the kids again, they did grow up and changed some. I was astonished what they remember from last years teaching. Three kids could even recite the Bible verses we studied together.

Singing and catching up was fun. I read a book to the kids today. "The Tail of the Three Trees" The picture tell the story how the kids got into the story. What an opportunity to be back, my heart was really happy.

Everyone pays close attention

Singing is still a lot of fun

They all wanted to share what they remembered

My little grand niece Matilda was intrigued when I told her about the ladder over the roads here in Diani Beach. They are put up for the monkeys, so they can safely cross the road. While I took the picture  a family of Columbus monkeys waited in a Baobab tree to cross, but they where in no rush to do so. After I waited for a while I made my way to the next appointment without seeing the monkeys actually cross the ladder, but you get the idea. The Columbus monkey is an endangered species here in Kenya and the ladders are saving them form getting killed on the road.

Life in Kenya

Askari is the Swahili word for guard  The place I stay has Masai worrier as askaris around the premises.Their red and blue out fit distinguishes them from the rest of all tribes here in Kenya. Here some snapshot at the gate. I enjoy the place I live, its safe, comfortable and quiet.
