Trees and Flowers

As you can imagine the trees and flowers are different from our part of the world.
Its the first time that I see a "Madagascar Palm" bloom.  There is no smell to the flower but it attracts bees and all sorts of other little creatures.

Another remarkable beautiful tree is the "Flamboyant Tree", the name is more then fitting. The orange flowers are shining bright in Africa's hot sun.

Tonights Dinner

Jambo Friends

Tonight is red and white snapper on the menu. Ali, a fisherman delivered the catch of the day right to my door. He fillet the fish and prepares it for me to cook. We know each other now for almost 10 years. What a special treat to have him still come and prepare the fish, make small talk and share memories. Life in Kenya!

Women's Ministry

Today we conducted  our first "Women's Leadership Team" meeting.  Fantastic women from all walks of life. The group is great to work with and I am sure I learn a ton and hopefully impact them as well.
Taking notes is really important

One of the woman remarked after the meeting: "I was afraid that another Musungu (white person) is going to tell us again what to do, but you actually listened to us and ask us questions so you would understand us, thank you!"

School

Jambo Friends

The kids love the play ground equipment we sponsored last year. They are well used by boys and girls during the breaks.

It is a joy to be with them. They "showed off" what they learned the past year in the "religious"  class. I was very impressed by their knowledge and ability to recite
 John 3:16.

The kitchen where lunch is prepared for the kids. Can you imagine to cook for over a hundred children lunch here?

First Day of School

Today I visited New Life Academy for the first time since I am back. The kids greeted me with a loud shout of joy. Absolutely beautiful and heart melting.

Today's lesson was about  the creation of the world.  The lessons from "Bible for kids" I got on my tablet were the hit. (Thank you Nora and Jonas) The kids had so much fun (me too)   :)

The map of Kenya and the World showed another aspect of God's amazing creation. To find the places we live added great entertainment. Now we all know where the Kangaroo and the Penguin live too.

The kids are eager learning new things

And pay close attention

Finding Diani Beach on the Africa Map

And of course Pittsburgh

Shopping is slightly different then in the US. Although the stores are not like a Giant Eagle (Grocery chain in the US) but you can't beat the flavor of the  mangoes.  They are the best ever,  it is by far my favorite fruit that I enjoy daily.

Jambo Friends!
I am back in Kenya. The flight was uneventful and again I felt like coming home. It "settling in time". Its hot and humid of course, quiet an adjustment for my body after the cold and snow in Germany, but you don't hear me complain. (St least not the first month) :)

My phone is not working yet, hopefully the phone company can work it out the next couple of days. No "what's app" messaging right now.  Please be patient with me if I don't answer its not that I ignore you.

Seeing some of my friends is a wonderful experience. Here are some pictures of  my surrounding, the place that I call "home" for the next several month.
