Nairobi

Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya is like almost all third world cities, busy, congested, and full of contrasts. Stately mansions give way to the slums of Kibera and Mathare. Huge western shopping malls hint on the upcoming middle class, but quickly swallowed up by the dirty, neglected pot hole covered back streets. My visit to Nairobi was filled with adventures Uber rides and beautiful fellowship with friends. But without doubt my visit to a friends tea plantation was one of the highlight of my stay in Kikuyu Land. Here are some of the pictures I took while out in the suburbs of Nairobi.

Rainy Season Started

Today is one of these rainy days here in Kenya. Early in the morning the sun peeked out, but after returning from my walk on the beach, the rain settled in for good today. Tomorrow it can look very different. I enjoy the cooler temperate (25 o C or 75 o F) while it last. Tomorrows humidity will be in the 80% range!

Fun day at the School

Team building activities, fun, singing, dancing, all belong to a special day at the school on Saturday. In April there is no school here in Kenya and so we organized a special event for the girls to get to know them better outside of the classroom. We all had much fun!

Shopping Kenyan Style

Hi Friends
No Giant Eagle or any other grocery chain near me, so I do what locals do, buy things at the shop on the street. The fruits and vegetables are amazingly delicious.

Shoes made Kenyan Style

Jambo, no doubt things are working different here in Kenya. I needed a new pair of shoes and went to my friend Dennis who handmade them for me. He charges a fair price and he is very creative.

Women's Fellowship

When women come together for fellowship they always have a good time of studying, laughing, eating delicious cake, talking and learning about the Word of God.
