Cloth for Babies

When we visited  last week the village we met a young woman and her baby. The child was wrapped in swaddling cloth. My friend Tina immediately responded saying" I am going through my kids cloth to bring  some cloth for her child." On Friday we made our way back to the village to deliver the cloth. Naomi, the young mother was overjoyed. She couldn't stop smiling.

Another lady we met last week just gave birth to her twin babies, a boy and a girl. We stopped by at her house to bring some cloth for the children. She was very grateful for the gifts.

Food Relief Program

 Dear Friends

This week food distribution in the village went really well. We visited about 30 families. To share the Gospel with people invigorates my own faith. People are very grateful for our visit. Today I show you some pictures from my "favorite" people group; the kids. I am always trailed by some. My blue eyes and white skin mesmerizes them. Often we laugh, their responses are precious.

Street Boys

The Pastors and members from the church in Kibra (slum area) went to distribute food to the children/ teenager at Central Park in Nairobi. Our support enable them to feed 50 young people. The teenager are all homeless and live on the streets, hungry and with very little support. The Pastors hope to build relationships and offer hope and a better future to them. What is striking to me is that the church from the poorest area in Nairobi are willing to help the ones who have even less then they have.

 Covid 19 Food Relief

Today we went into the community distributing food bags to neighbors. Different teams visited 25 families. I was delighted to be part of it and enjoyed meeting people and sharing the Gospel. The area is extremely poor. Some people sleeping on cement floors, no mattress and babies just wrapped in swaddling clothes. But all very grateful fort he gift of food and prayers.

Here some snapshots of our day

 Back in Diani

Being back in Diani is like coming home. What a joy to be here.  I adjust to the different climate, the heat and humidity are a welcome change from Pittsburgh weather.

Still learning again to drive on the left side of the road, trying to remember all the pot holes and speed bumps along the drive. Ready to break for goats, monkeys, camels and cows on the road.

You also know that you are in a tropical climate when you kill cockroaches, live with spiders and have little geckos as roommates.

But it is good to be here and reconnect with friends. Excited what God has in store for me here.

Partner with Church in Kibra, Nairobi

This week I met with three pastors from the slum area Kibra in Nairobi. Around 1 Million people live in unimaginable poverty. The church of the Pastors has a outreach program to the community, providing some very basic food.  The visitation program allows them to bless people not only with food but also with the word of God and an invitation to trust in Jesus. We are honored to partner with them providing funding for their loving effort.

Pastor Nicholas, right next to me has a heart for the street children in Nairobi. He recently began ministering to them and  building friendships to share God's love. Food is a means to reach the kids. Money for food is the main hindrance  to grow the outreach. Our support  enable him to buy food for the coming month.

It was an honor to meet these three men. Their hearts desires for bringing relief to the poorest of poor blessed me.

Karibu Kenya

Yes, I hardly can believe it myself! I am back in Kenya!  I pinch myself to realize it.

My first day yesterday was  filled with activities. Without a doubt, the highlight was visiting the children's home and rescue center for girls.
