Food Distribution for Widows and Single Mothers

Jambo Friends, a long day in the country side draws to an end and I am grateful how God has answered prayers. Together with a small team of friends I went to Diama to distribute food items to widows and single mothers. I was able to share with the women and enjoyed fellowship with them. We gave out over 200 bags of food and made new friends.

The women enjoyed  our time together. My favorite part is our dancing!

Welcoming dance, the guests are invited to join in

Food Relief For Widows and Single Mothers

Adventures Journey

Today I made my way up to the Shimba Hills. Rosie,a friend, works among the people there and she organized a food relief event for widows and single mothers.  RGGM was able to sponsor the event. Over 275 women, many older widows came to receive some rice and beans. The severe drought in the last month took a heavy toll on them. Rainy season started and everybody planted crops.  Until harvest RGGM helps to bridge the time until the maize is ready. Along with the food I was able to share about God's love for them. It was a sweet time of fellowship. Women form all different religious backgrounds where present. Be part of it and see for yourself

The room looked colorful

They listened patiently

The drive itself was an adventure as you can tell. I was glad Bob came with me to drive most of the way. The video was shot on a "nice" part of the road where I felt comfortable to drive.
Here an amazing view over the valley

Discipleship one on one

Discipleship

Last Saturday we had the first of our Discipleship training sessions with the women of the church. Almost 30 showed up in spite of heavy rains. The interest is encouraging. We hope to create a vital discipleship program for women in the church. Training the women is a absolute joy and passion of my heart.

The church entrance was flooded so we moved to the Pastors house

The love among the women is obvious

Girls Go Beyond

Jambo Friends

On Saturday we officially went for the first time as "Girls Go Beyond" team to the High School. We changed the name of the ministry to reflect more our desire for the girls.
Going Beyond -  poverty, limitations, tradition, fears, expectations, self imposed barrier, religion, .......  these girls face so many difficult circumstances. We want to encourage them to reach beyond and go further then they ever thought they could. Our main goal is to introduce them to the love of God, which takes them into eternity.

We as a team had a great time and connected well to the girls. Here some highlights.
We had much fun giving out all sorts of goodies
